Nothing Else Matters

"Nothing Else Matters" almost never became a Metallica song.

James Hetfield wrote it alone, on the phone, taping a private demo he never meant the band to hear. Lars Ulrich found the tape and pushed it onto the album that would go on to sell over 16 million copies in the US alone.

Should the world's heaviest band have kept a ballad like this off the record?
