Somebody That I Used to Know

"Somebody That I Used to Know" wasn't built from scratch - it's built on a 1967 guitar record most listeners have never heard.

Gotye looped a sample of Brazilian guitarist Luiz Bonfa's 1967 instrumental then wrote a breakup song around it alone in his parents' barn studio. Kimbra's verse flips the whole story - most people forget it's even there.

Did you know the hook gets answered by a second point of view most of us tune out?
